The Mets drafted McHugh with their 18th round selection (554th overall) in the 2008 amateur draft. He stuck out 62 batters in 61.2 innings as a junior in 2008. He is a graduate of Providence Christian Academy in Lilburn, GA and a native of Naperville, IL.
