Johan Santana

The Mets acquired Santana from the Minnesota Twins on February 2, 2008 in exchange for Carlos Gomez, Philip Humber, Kevin Mulvey, and Deolis Guerra. He comes to the Mets having already won two Cy Young awards. Upon reaching the trade agreement, the Mets signed Santana to a long-term extension. Santana is a native of Tovar, Venezuela. He will again represent his country in the 2009 WBC after pitching to a 0.96 WHIP in the 2006 competition.
