I'd do Rosario and like Peterson for Realmuto. Realmuto is an interesting trade and extend candidate.

I'm curious to see what the deal is for Realmuto

There's still at least half a dozen teams for whom JTR is a good fit. The Marlins should do pretty well in this deal.

What should they do well here? They gave away the MVP last year. Why play hardball now? Gave away Osuna too

Until Brodie shows some spine why not try to hold him up?

It worked for Seattle.

Why did the Angels give away Jose Alvarez? What am I missing?

Luis Valbuena and former Pirates player Jose Castillo were killed in a car accident in Venezuela last night:

I thought so, too, but MLBTR wrote this:

Looking past their ERAs, then, Garcia actually graded out more favorably in some regards. Some fielding-independent metrics were actually more bullish on the 31-year-old Garcia than the 29-year-old Alvarez; Garcia’s 3.64 xFIP was superior to Alvarez’s 3.98 mark, and his 3.46 SIERA also bested Alvarez’s mark of 3.78 by a slight margin. Garcia is also just a year removed from a 2.65 ERA in 71 1/3 innings of work, and there’s plenty to like about his 97.2 mph average fastball and impressive 14.5 percent swinging-strike rate. It’s also worth noting that the Phillies were one of the worst defensive teams in baseball by virtually any measure in 2018, which did Garcia and others no favors.

Angels betting on the stuff differential, I guess. Alvarez is a junkballer, Garcia hits 100.

Meh. Garcia is 31 years old and a RHP coming off a 6.07 era season. We can say unlucky all we want but he's very hittable for a guy with meh control and... RHP. Alvarez is lefty and since 2015 has a 121 era+ 3.40 FIP. I love stats as much as the next guy but one has proven to be very solid beyond "well some of the secondary numbers are pretty interesting". Lefties hit .206 vs. Alvarez this year so THAT alone gives him value

Not trying to argue for Garcia, really, but he did have a 2.65 ERA/3.12 FIP year in 2017. Righties hit .184 against him that year (though lefties hit .280). BAA was not as good for either side in 2018.

I wouldn't have done the deal, either. Just noting the Angels might think they see something here.

I'm just surprised the Phillies got him for so cheap. I don't know who our Garcia is but I surely would have done the same.

Its kind of funny that BVW talked about "ifs" being the plan every year when frankly, based on JW's comments, it appears there AGAIN (shocker) is limited budget. Guess BVW will have a rude awakening soon about "ifs."

I know he's an iffy source but incarcerated Bob says Miller has an offer from the Mets...pressure is on for them to accept or Mets will move on. Again take it FWIW

The Indians are "giving away" Bauer to move Kipnis with 17 million owed? Allow me to call total BS on that one
