I like "Sweet Caroline."

It's a fun song, they play it at bars and whatnot so I don't necessarily associate it with the Red Sox.

::shrug::

It's not like they're playing it at Fenway these days anyway.

True.

I'm all for being original, but the truth is that most fans don't really care about anything but having a good time while they're at the game. And that's perfectly fine. So, if they continue to play Sweet Caroline, and the fans continue to sing along, they should keep playing it. I'll be singing along. It's not like the song says anything about the Sox in it.

I rarely agree with these 2 homers....but
I agree 100% with there grip about the playing of Sweet Caroline at Shea...I was there for a Thursday game vs FLA before the season ended and I was like "Wait a minute, when did Shea turn into Fenway"
I also agree with the role call that the Yankees do....
We need some Original material.....
I say let's start with Sheaman and go forward....
If you go to the game tell people around you to get original...

LGM

Enter Sheaman

By disecting every little thing that happens on a daily basis, M&MD are ruining the fun in sports.

I don't care about any of this stuff.

For how long and how often do the Red Sox do Sweet Caroline? Do they have a copyright on it or something? I thought they did that at Rangers games.

1. I've been to 2 of the 3 games so far, and I haven't heard the Roll Call....has anyone else?

2. The Mets just won Gm 1 of the NLCS and this is what these 2 yahoos are talking about? How about addressing this nonsense during the regular season?

I understand that they aren't Mets fans, but don't come here in October like a first time visitor and start nitpicking about Shea's goings on.

Its almost like they are going to start talking about the fact that they are shocked to find out that the Mets wear black jerseys. I can imagine Dawg saying "I gotta tell ya Mikey, Keith Hernandez never wore a black jersey. Ed Kranepool? No black jersey....bad job by the Mets."

Fellas....lets focus on the actual series, not the fact that you can't find a cold Rheingold at Shea anymore.

I think the entire landscape of sports fandom has changed over the last 10, 15 years because of the advent of sports talk radio and the advent of the Internet. I think there is a lot more expectation and anger among sports fans in general than there was the last time the Mets had a large run of success.

From the Gary Cohen interview. Although I don't want to admit it, M&MD have had a very large effect on sports and the way fans follow their teams/players. I am very thankful I live 5 hours away from WFAN so I am not tempted to tune into them on a daily basis.

While that's true, the advent of the Internet has also led to places like this one where you can discuss sports, especially NY sports, outside the angry hatred normally associated with NY sports fans. SO it has both a dark cloud and a silver lining. To look at just one side of that, I think is to miss the upside.

Of course, which is why I did not cite the internet in my post. Talk shows like M&MD are totally controlled by 1 (or 2) people. They have the voice, the override button, and they can hang up on a caller (or choose to take a select few) whenever they wish. The internet, though not perfect, at least allows people to exchange ideas on a more level playing field (pardon the pun...).

I don't have a problem with Enter Sandman since it has always been Wagner's song.

I really don't care whether they play God Bless America or not for playoff games. I know the Yankees do it every game, but it's just not a big deal to me.

It's a joke that they are playing Sweet Caroline though.

Yea, that is perfectly fine.

Thats just Mike being a Spankee homer

God Bless America should be banned from ever being played anywhere, again. Horrible song.

Replace it with the Ray Charles rendition of America the Beautiful if you must play something..
