Game Two NLCS Lineups

Fri Oct 13, 2006 4:57 pm

Folks,

Just looking at the Cardinals lineup here and Scott Spiezio is in for Scott Rolen. Can't really say that that is a surprise as I was told by somebody in the clubhouse a few days ago that it was almost expected -- unless Rolen went out and ripped Glavine.

(But Albert Pujols told us all what we needed know about Glavine. Sheesh.)

Here is the Cardinals' lineup, Spiezio included.

1. Eckstein, SS
2. Duncan, LF
3. Pujols, 1B
4. Edmonds, CF
5. Spiezio, 3B
6. Encarnacion, RF
7. Belliard, 2B
8. Molina, C
9. Carpenter, P

and the Mets ...

1. Reyes, SS
2. Lo Duca, C
3. Beltran, CF
4. Delgado, 1B
5. Wright, 3B
6. Green, RF
7. Valentin, 2B
8. Chavez, LF
9. Maine, P

Off to the clubhouse to see if there is any fallout from what Pujols said about Glavine -- had a similar remark about Chris Young, you recall; but Glavine has a tad more victories -- and get the explanation on Rolen being held out of the lineup. See, you know, if he's a defensive replacement or if a platoon is developing at third base.

Always drama.

From Shea,

Derrick

No Rolen. Ouch.

No Rolen, huh?

Him and Floyd should hang out together.

No Rolen or Preston Wilson.

Not surprised to see Scott Rolen sitting this one out.

Ouch for the Mets or Cards?

Smart move by the Cardinals. Wilson batting second is a joke. Plus I think Duncan had a few hits against Maine earlier this year.

Well Spezio is a solid hitter, and Duncan is more dangerous then Wilson.

Hopefully, Maine steps up to the challenge.

With Maine, Trachsel and Perez our next three scheduled starters, Paul LoDuca is going to be very important in how he calls these games and mentally and emotionally handles these pitchers.

Agreed. It's impossible for us to know the true relationship between pitchers and catchers, but LoDuca seems to work very hard at building trust and encouraging his pitchers.

I didn't know Dave Duncan is a player-coach. Amazing.
