How are those names any better than the pitching that we have already been subjected to? Schmidt is the only current mlb pitcher out of that group that I would consider to be an upgrade...the rest are just redux of the veteran pitchers that we have already had...

After watching Green, we need some corner OF'ers too. If this guy aint done he's on his last leg.

Tough nut for Omar. If he packages Milledge for pitching, it creates a hole in the OF.

If he gives Chavez a starting job, we need better then Green in RF.

Iam just throwing out names and Barry Zito, Matsuzaka and Mark Buerhle are ten times better then anybody we got not named Tom Glavine.

Besides Soriano Dye and Carlos Lee the corner outfield market is pretty dry.

To boil it down to the core of the problem:

The Mets need to get younger in the rotation.

35+ pitchers breaking down at the end of the season should be a surprise to no one.

The best starters in this years playoffs have been 2 40 year olds though.

We just got unlucky that 2 pitchers hurt their calfs(!) right before the playoffs.
