A big plus for Rios over Church is that Rios' career right-left splits are very close, so he wouldn't have to platoon.

Another thing to add is that guys like Rios are going to be the ones on the market--too big a contract, hasn't lived up to expectations. There's going to be risk involved.

The other ones are guys in their walk years and those involve another kind of risk.

Teams aren't trading high-achieving players who are under contractual control.

# Virtually every NL contender, including the Reds and Giants, tried to acquire Mark DeRosa from the Indians. The Indians saved slightly less than $3 million on the deal, no small benefit to their ownership. They also acquired right-hander Chris Perez and a significant player to be named for three months of DeRosa. The last time they acquired a PTBN from the Cardinals, it turned out to be Coco Crisp.- Rosenthal

Man, the Cardinals really paid the piper for DeRosa

No way on Rios.

The Mets, like every other team, operate on a budget. 12 million on Rios (or whatever his contract is for) means 12 million less to spend on other areas.

I'd maybe consider it if the Jays took back Perez and Castillo.

Milledge for Snell makes sense for both teams. Change of scenery for both(and the Buccos get rid of Snell's contract).

I believe it's Milledge for Nyjer Morgan?

Significant? It couldn't be Brett Wallace, could it? Because that would really be paying out the rear.

The Bucs already have Milledge's younger and slightly better twin, Andrew McCutcheon.

They're really not very similar players.

Perez almost killed two guys last night. Quite the pickup.
