The Pirates have signed Dominican center fielder Michael de la Cruz for $700,000.

The bonus came as a surprise to some teams. De la Cruz, who turned 16 yesterday, is a lefty with a lean, medium frame at 6 feet, 175 pounds.

The Orioles have signed Cuban outfielder Henry Urrutia to a minor league contract with a bonus of $778,500.

the team also announced the signing of four international free agents: right-handed pitcher Ramses Rosario and outfielders Aldrem Corredor, Darryl Florentino and Luis Guzman.
Rosario, Corredor and Florentino are all listed as 16 years old. No age was announced for Guzman.
Rosario checks in at 6-foot-3, 175 lbs. and is a native of Venezuela. The Nats feel he has "advanced pitching instincts and commands three quality pitches."
Corredor (6-foot-1, 170 lbs.) is a left-handed hitter from Venezuela who plays both corner outfield positions. The Nationals like his power and plate discipline.
Florentino (6-foot-2, 180 lbs.) is from the Dominican Republic. The Nationals consider him a strong defender with a good arm and above-average speed.
The Nats view Guzman (6-foot-1, 183 lbs.) as a "prototypical leadoff hitter" who has a "powerful bat and projects as a superior defensive outfielder. He's a native of the Domincan Republic.

Rangers shortstop Jurickson Profar homered in his major league debut on Sunday, but that wasn't the only big day for the Profar family this week. The Rangers have also signed Profar's younger brother, Juremi Profar, a 16-year-old third baseman from Curacao.

At 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Profar has the size, hands and arm strength to play third base, while showing flashes of power in games from the right side. He isn't as high-profile of a prospect as Jurickson Profar was when he signed with the Rangers for $1.55 million in 2009, but like his older brother, Juremi was also a standout at the Little League World Series. Profar was a shortstop and pitcher for Curacao's 2008 Little League World Series team that played in Williamsport, Pa. and reached the international semifinals, where he homered and struck out nine batters while allowing one earned over 4 2/3 innings in an 11-4 loss to Japan. Profar had homered twice in one of Curacao's previous games in Williamsport against Italty to help propel his team to the international semifinals. Profar also played on Curacao's 2007 Little League World Series team that reached the international championship game.

I would Profar the Mets to sign some pedigreed guys like this...
