I'm rooting for Carson to beat out Herrera. Nothing against Herrera but I like heat!
I've never really been a Carson fan but I think he's my "guy" this spring, too.
I'll champion Fernando Cabrera until he gets cut around March 10, then full-bore on Carson.
I think Carson has been highly overrated on this site but I'd rather watch a 23 year old pump in a FB from the left side at 93-95 then see Herrera or someone like that. Plus he's funny on twitter.

Rich Coutinho @coutinho9 Close @SteveSeidman1 I think Mets will see what teams dump guys towards end of ST with new CBA this is a smart way to strategize for bench players
Yup, the smart way is not to get the guy you actually want, but wait for some reject from some other team to come available.
C'mon Rich. Its a backup plan. I'm pretty sure "Any LH bat that couldn't make a different team will do" wasn't on Sandy's whiteboard back in November.

The problem is that I always like quirky, gimmicky LOOGys, and so I like Herrera.
Its kind of a win-win there for me, I guess, until we carry Garrett Olsen.

I like Herrera too but if we are going with 2 lefties (going with 3 would be idiotic). I have to "vote" for the guy with upside.
AKA we'll probably go with Garrett Olson as the swingman and the recently released at the end of spring Ron Mahay as the 2nd lefty. Parnell to the minors.
Another guy I like, tho not on quirkiness or stuff but rather on the idea that he's been dominant 2 years running and could be the next "diamond in the rough" that everyone loves.
Can't really do wrong by me if we go logical with the 2nd lefty. Of course, we can easily go Miggy Batista and Garrett Olson, sending Parnell to the minors along with these other guys, and that'll make me sad.
Lutz isn't really in the running to make the roster; I wouldn't have minded seeing him displace Turner, but judging by TC's quotes, no chance that happens. Only bench spot left is for a LHB who can play the outfield. They've been pretty clear about that.
Carson on the other hand should definitely have a shot.
