I'm a bit worried there's something there that they've been able to keep quiet on Familia with everything else going on.
Harvey, counting yesterday when he was going to get a 4 inning start on ESPN, had 3 scheduled appearances. Familia, who some found quotes from team officials in the beginning of spring saying he could be closer, got 1 appearance on the 2nd day of games, and that was it. Never even on the schedule again.

I don't think so
"I threw with him every day and did my stuff with him," Familia said. "He taught me how to finish my changeup, my slider, my fastball.
He's hurt but he's throwing with Batista "every day"?

Hmm, ok. Just find it odd the way he never really saw game action after that first outing. If nothing else, may not have wanted his last impression be giving up a granny.
But I guess I'll trust it would have come to light by now.

Lutz now ineligible for ST games (unless recalled).
I guess that means Satin > Lutz on the depth chart.
Satin saw time last year so he's probably seen as more prepared. But I think Lutz is still probably viewed as the guy with more upside and less likely to be bumped from the 40.

Regarding Harvey's quote:
Quote:
"It's not my call. I can't make the decision," Harvey said. "No matter how much I wanted to try and prove that I could, it's never going to be my call. So I can only do what I can do. ... You know, I'm not happy about it. But I can't make the decision, so I'm going to go out there wherever I'm throwing and do the best I can and keep working and try to get to the level I want to be at."
Harvey said he feels like he's ready for the majors.
"I'd like to think so," Harvey said. "Whenever they feel like I'm ready is when I'm ready."
am I wrong, or does it seem like there's a bit of bitterness in there?
I kinda feel both good and bad about his words above. I don't like what he said from the point of view that he should have known (hek, everybody but him knew) that he wouldn't make the team, but also, I think, his passion and desire is more good than bad.

Nothing against Harvey but I get the feeling his personality is a bit prickly. I've seen him in a few interviews and read a few and he seems to usually have a certain tone. I could care less about it. Some of the best athletes in any sport have a certain "edge" to them but I get the feeling Harvey is one of them.

He thinks he's ready. He wanted to make the team. He thought he could show them that he was ready by his performance, regardless of what anyone said ahead of time. He pitched well in his limited chances and flashed plus stuff. He was sent down regardless and reality set in that there was really nothing he could do to have made it, and that surely extends to at least the early part of this season.
I'm sure that frustrating to him and rather than hide with an "Aw shucks, I'm just happy to be throwing a baseball anywhere" stock response that we get on people like David for giving, he spoke honestly to the I'm sure scores of beat guys and media members who asked him how it felt to be demoted.
Not really a big deal to me, and if it turns out he's a jerk, so be it, as long as he's dominating the league. If he stinks and blames everyone under the sun for his failures, thats when he'll have an issue. I'm hoping we never deal with that.
As an aside, I remember it was initially reported during his stint at Brooklyn that Ike Davis was an entitled jerk, too. He comes across nowadays as a "couldn't be a nicer guy" type. Sometimes kids learn how to portray themselves better as they realize the spotlight is on them and everything they do or say will be dissected, too.
