In any event, with JRod's release now, I'm thinking the Savannah OF is looking more and more like it will include both Tuschak AND Nimmo.

Could make for some less than stellar offensive performances, but that team should be loaded with young guys to watch. Potentially 4 early HS picks, all within our top 40 or so prospects, from last year's draft.

Michael Hebert got 135 K. 14 players his round got more money, 3 players his round got the same 135K and 6 players got 110-132 k. He cost more because of the round. Any 7th rounder would have "cost" that much. The player ended up a bust. Dock Doyle (a college player), a player you have talked up in the past, went 5th round of that very draft, never "held down a roster spot" and got 167K to sign. When he's released (which he almost certainly would have been already if he wasn't a catcher). What's the difference?

Sounds like all of Tuschak, Nimmo, Evans and Fulmer may open in Savannah. Would be great if it does.

I always had some expectations for J-Rod.

Looks like I can stop.

Seeing a clubby take the jersey out of a buddy's empty locker is the most heart breaking thing a minor leaguer will experience.

He wrote this before the news came out today; presumably he's talking about Powers, who's pitched at the same levels as McHugh recently.

Not a surprise to see the organization cleansing the system a bit now that they've had a year to evaluate the past regime's players and have to trim the Extended ST roster with just 2 short-season teams now.

I actually liked Powers. I think I need to stop liking these obscure college players, I'm like 1 for 6 (Kirk).

Niewenhuis wasn't really that obscure...Parnell was obscure.

But, joking aside, it is more fun to watch the obscure ones pass the higher regarded ones by...

Kinda surprised about Hebert. Am I remembering wrong or was there a report last summer he was throwing 93-94?

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?
