Not to throw a damper on the fun... Having watched the entire series, a few calls and bounces go the Braves way and we could have easily gone 0-3.

Lots of LOBs, some bad baserunning.

On the upside...
Great starting pitching; Wright looks comfortable, Murphy and Francisco has a great series, and Duda showing the power...get Davis and Bay started, and they might score enough. Tejada is a smart little player.

I look forward to them giving up on Jason Heyward one season too early.

Definitely unimpressed with the Braves lineup. The rotation has plenty of question marks too with Hanson & Jurjeins trying to get themselves back into form and Hudson coming off injury. They'll need a huge bounceback year from Heyward and continued improvement from Freeman to have a decent lineup, IMO.

Hanson velocity: 88.7. Career avg: 92.1
Jurrjens velocity: 87.5 Career avg: 91.0

Santana velocity: 87.7 Career avg: 91.4

Santana's older, had the best off-speed weapon in baseball for a while, and has been dealing with a velocity drop for a few years now and adjusting as he goes.

How do Braves fans feel about their mid-20's 1-2 punch down 3-4 mph off their peak fastballs already? I'd be quite concerned.

I look forward to Freddy instituting a Hinske/Diaz platoon in RF by May 1.

And following Dave O'Brien's thoughts on the season.

Yes. "@hkngsley: @ajcbraves mets may be better than people think. Agree?"

Haha.

On one hand, its "somebody out of town is giving the Mets respect instead of continuing the ongoing LOLMets idea"; on the other hand, its Dave O'Brien, who no doubt is setting up the "These were 3 close games against a really good team; nothing to worry about" follow-up/psychological justification.

My inclination to be negative about this Met team is going to be derailed by the fact that just about every team in baseball is going to be pretty lousy this year.

I really did not get that impression at all. There weren't any more bad calls than usual and I don't believe we got more or less calls than the Braves. We also weren't hitting dribblers through the infield or pop-ups that dropped in the OF while the Braves were hitting rockets right at people. We outplayed the Braves in this series. Plain and simple. The question is can we keep it up?

My one Braves friend really is concerned more about Hanson than Jurrjens. Remember there was that talk of the Braves moving Jurrjens, for an OF IIRC the rumor...and he seemed very inclined to pull that deal. Plus JJ was showing signs of velocity decline last year. But Hanson he seemed very concerned with and I believe he made changes to his delivery...

Yeah cause David Wright didn't have an awful baserunning play yesterday :)

Sox won big with Beckett so it's not really fair to look back but Hanley is a superstar and Sanchez looks on the cusp of becoming an all-star. That's a pretty special haul in one trade.
