Sure, the B-Mets lost 4-3, but Zack Wheeler’s line in his second start: 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 9 K, 3 HBP. From the B-Mets’ radio broadcast, which used the word “electric” on the post-game, it sounded like he was getting swings and misses with both his fastball and curve. Two starts for Wheeler: 9 IP, 13 K, 3 BB.

Story #2: Chase Huchingson was too. … (A+)
LHP Chase Huchingson has as different a baseball pedigree as you can imagine from Wheeler. While Wheeler was the former first round pick traded at the deadline for the six-time All-Star, Huchingson was a non-drafted free agent out of a small school where he was a pitcher and an outfielder. Huchingson Friday in a 2-0 win: 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K. In 12.2 IP in advanced-A, he’s fanned 10, walked three and yielded six hits.

Buffalo struck for a pair in the 2nd. Lutz doubled and scored on Rob Johnson's sac fly and then Jordany Valdespin doubled in Tuiasosopo. Quintanilla was actually thrown out at the plate trying to score from 1st on the play.

BTW, "Win Now Wally" is probably going to want to play Bobby Scales every game, meaning I have a feeling Valdespin is basically going to play CF all year.

Sluger,
I'm 99% sure Valdespin in CF is coming from Sandy and not Wally.

Well, Sandy had said Valdespin would play CF, 2B and SS. It looks to me like he has turned into the every day CF. I actually think he's better suited to play CF, so I'm actually pleased to see them giving it a try.

Gorski gave up a pair of RBI doubles in the 4th after cruising through the first 3 frames.

Sean Kazmar just got the runs back with a 2-run double in the bottom of the inning.

Gorski: 4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 71-41

Bunt single by a Portland hitter, Gorski fielded it and made a throwing error. Injury delay pops up on Gameday and then Gorski is removed.

Uh-oh?

Eric Campbell just replaced Dykstra, so maybe Dykstra got hurt somehow?

Buffalo lost 9-6.

Jordany singled, doubled and walked in 5 trips. Scored twice, drove in a run.
