Somebody pointed this out the other day, but for all the complaints about people that "boo" Bay because he tries so hard and how its not fair to Jason...he's gotten off REMARKABLY easy.

Think of it this way: remember the treatment of Ollie? Castillo? Cedeno? Those guys all had at least 1 good year with the Mets, where they would justify whatever salary was given to them prior to becoming busts. We have actual good memories and good moments with each of them.

Jason Bay literally has not had a single "moment" here as a Met. He has been god awful from day 1, never coming close to giving a glimmer of hope that he will justify his salary, and the team has been just as bad since he's been here. And yet for all the talk about how terrible people treat him, he isn't half the villain/get half the scorn of those guys. Again - for what he's done, and what he makes, he has gotten off remarkably easy in New York.

And combined, those commitments above amounted to about $78m, which will be the commitment to Jason Bay ALONE if that dreadful option vests.
