So you've never seen a game where a team had chances to get runs early, ended up not getting them, and then lost? When your pitcher is breezing thru the early innings, the other is struggling and then boom boom your team is losing instead of winning? Guess that never happens.
Happens all the time, but the Mets really haven't had that many scoring chances.
Regardless, I usually don't pronounce 2-1 games in the 5th inning as being over.
Again it is a "feeling" that I have about this game. Hence why I think the game is over even as early as the 5th or 6th inning.
Yeah, I mean, relax. This is absolutely one of "those" games, (until it isn't), because you were cruising on offense early and Niese was rolling (and still kinda is), until suddenly you absolutely halt on getting baserunners (1 since the 2nd I think) and they suddenly are winning.

Decent yes. But can anyone say that this lineup that is on the field today is a championship calibur lineup?
I think Gary's point is a fair one, despite the fact that I doubt he believes Minaya was a good GM. It's fair to point out that folks were all up in arms that Omar "left us with nothing" and now those same folks are cheering on the likes of Duda, Kirk, Ike et al. Which is not to say that Omar is some kind of scouting/drafting genius, but there were some nice things bubbling up in the org when he left.
Seems reasonable to take a nuanced approach to our understanding of Omar's reign.

Dan Lewis @DanDotLewis Reply Retweet Favorite · Open @ogtedberg @tobyhyde @jeffpaternostro Omar should get credit for what today is: a 70-75 win team costing $40MM/yr.
That expresses what I was trying to say above better, I think.

Waiting for a replay of Kearns' double, based on the twittah comments.
Kearns made a good slide, Murphy made a bad attempt at a tag. Still wouldn't have been surprised if he was called out because "the throw beat him to the bag." Nothing insane on Murphy's part (even though I am in the "this stuff adds up" camp).
