I thought we were going to keep Lutz and send Valdespin down?

So much for Lutz "likely" staying around. TC fools everyone again!

So glad Torres is back though. Kirk-Torres-Duda is going to be a much better defensive configuration than what we've been running out there this year.

One of the things I've noticed with the roster this year is that they have a ton of guys they can just shuttle up and down.

Probably not a lot of fun for the guys involved, but it's better than having moves influenced by having to pass players through waivers all the time.

This is probably the right move. To me, Lutz has looked really over matched and the plate, and probably isn't quite ready yet...not that Valdespin has looked a lot better, but at least he can provide speed, something we really lack.

This is good news for the OF like nmig said. We can shade Kirk and Torres towards RF to lessen the ground Duda has to cover.

Does he still have to dress like a cowboy?

Thisis going to help, as much as many people peg Torres as an overmatched bench guy. The OF range is suddenly going to be a pretty big strength, so long as Duda can just catch the balls hit in his immediate vicinity.

Lutz over Valdy is a mild surprise, but Valdy has the more useful bench skillset right now. There just aren't a ton of ABs for Lutz as the 3rd RH pinch hitter and with two franchise cornerstones at his spots ( and him looking very in comfortably novice at 1B).

I'd like to see Kirk keep the CF gig. He looked great out there today.

I realize Torres is a good defender also but I keep harping on the fact that Kirk has a future with the Mets while Torres really doesn't. I guess I'm fine with it as long as Kirk continues to play.......which begs the question, what happens to Bay?
