Frank Frank probably going to give up like a billion runs here because of the relative adrenaline factor versus a 1 run save opportunity, right?

Acosta's 2.33 WHIP is quite impressive. Small sample size and all, but wow.

Also impressive are Batista's 2.23, Frank Frank's 2.07 (and counting) and Schwinden's 2.00.

We love baserunners.

Nothing like some 1st and 3rd adrenaline to get Frank Frank's juices flowing.

Ohhhhhhhh boy.

And it just so happens he lines up with this spot, doesn't it?

Get ready for a lot of this.

Lol. He'd be better than at least 2 of Dickey, Santana, Niese right now? I guess we throw out all of his AA-AAA numbers.

Fun series - sweep and influenza.

I assume this is going to dull the fun of the Golf Pros and Tennis Hoes themed flight home, huh?

Steve,

When teams are down early, it changes the way they approach their AB's. They've been in huge holes these last 2 games. Nearly insurmountable ones. And they've been without Duda for the entire series. I'd be more concerned about the 3 pitchers on the staff who can't get anyone out (Schwinden, Batista, and Acosta).

Not sure I agree. I know there are enough cases when teams jump out to big leads and the other team comes back and scores runs to make a blowout semi close. But you are right about Duda, i'm sure losing him hurt the lineup.

With such a thin team they won't be winning many games minus one of their 3-4 good offensive players facing the other teams good pitchers with out worst starters. I said this last night but since I'm awesome this is worth repeating

My guess is every time they look like they will lose 9 in a row they will win a few and every time they look like they will win 8/10 they will lose 3-4 in a row. Limited talent + a lot of fight to the team likely means it will be a lot of up and down and a record... around .500... decided by injuries of course. Major injuries to any of the key players (especially the rotation) and it will obviously be worse.

I'll be completely honest with you: I don't think he'd be effective. I think he'd walk a ton of guys cuz he doesn't command the fastball well, throw a lot of pitches and not get deep into games, he appears to have an "issue" where if things are going wrong early, he can come apart, etc.

But I can't pretend like I wouldn't enjoy it from a strict fan perspective. I want to conjure up some faux-outrage over the stunting of his development and all that, but this isn't Mejia "only needing 1 pitch" (I think that was Jerry's quote, right?) to be the longman in the pen ala 2010. 23 yr old kid into the rotation, a little light on minor league experience, isn't exactly unheard of.

Anyway, its not going to happen, but my response would be more excitement than rage if it did, I have to admit.

Havens time!

We need both Murphy and Havens to stay/get healthy and get/stay hot! Need to build up the trade value of one of these guys so we have something worthwhile someone might want.

With 2 more lefties coming up Friday and Saturday, I'll say they have the look of a team thats at least trending toward 5 straight losses.

So I guess what you're saying is I should expect a sweep this weekend!?

More interesting or exciting 100% no way to argue otherwise.... stating he'd be their #2 or #3 best pitcher right now is comical at best. He'd be better than which 2 of Santana, Dickey and Niese? or which 1? I've watched every single one of his starts (at least pieces) and he's very intriguing and I can't wait till he is ready BUT he's had one very good AAA start (last start) and a whole lot of getting behind hitters. He's been anything but "dominant" at AA-AAA. He's been solid and figures to get better but he's not better than Santana, Niese, Dickey right now and odds are he would be worse than Gee as well. He seems to unravel ala Oliver Perez when things go poorly. Let him pitch well at AAA for another 4-6 weeks before this is makes any sense discussing.
