Johan isn't injury prone. Capuano is. And Niese's main thing was a freak hammy injury. Not saying Johan's season can't end (like any other pitcher) after one bad pitch, but Cap has had a history of injuries.

Wait, why was Schwinden given the quick hook?
When is Terry gonna stop chasing basically unwinnable games at the expense of our already burnt out bullpen
Today really made no sense.
Yesterday, you kind of knew today was a longshot to win so you really wanted that game, and you had a chance to bring the tying run to the plate, and maybe your best pure power hitter on the bench. Now, the matchup stunk, he was on the bench because he was very ill and you had the guy who had been your de-facto "ace" on the mound with a pinball machine waiting behind him, so it wasn't a "good" decision, but there was a line of thinking there.
Today just seemed like a move made out of frustration. Although I'm sure the justification will be that tomorrow is an off-day.

It would be really wonderful if the offense stepped up and actually produced something. The output this series has been pathetic.
At least its home-grown.
They scored what, 48 runs in Colorado? Had something like 50 hits over the 3 games?
The last 3 games, the Mets have been down 3-0, 5-0, and 5-0. Now they're down 8-1. I wouldn't go blaming the offense here.
What does their offensive output in the thin air of Colorado have to do with this 3 game series? They did nothing in the first 5 or 6 innings of the first houston game before they were even down a run.

Now if we can only get rid of the Wilpons and replaced them with Mark Cuban the STO master plan can be complete!

So true. The Mets had a win expectancy below 10% when Collins pulled Schwinden for a pinch-hitter. Yesterday, when he pulled Niese for a pinch-hitter, their win expectancy was below 20%.
When teams are down early, it changes the way they approach their AB's. They've been in huge holes these last 2 games. Nearly insurmountable ones. And they've been without Duda for the entire series. I'd be more concerned about the 3 pitchers on the staff who can't get anyone out (Schwinden, Batista, and Acosta).

What happened to Manny Acosta anyway? He was much better than this last year. Wasn't he?
Probably not this bad, but obviously the "Acostalypse" nickname was born out of his early-season appearances (after being cut out of ST and going unclaimed) not being very pretty, so maybe just a slow starter?

Chris Capuano, who had a respectable year for this very team in 2011, signed for 2 years, $10 mil with the Dodgers. There's no way they couldn't have found a way to come up with that money, even before the Madoff settlement.
(Kidding aside, I agree with your overall post; the starting depth should've been better).
I'm always tempted to preface anything positive I write about Capuano with "nmig thinks I hate Capuano, but...."
