Ike to the minors might be a good thing. he needs to get his timing back. Duda to first should be the best option with Baxter and Hairston spelling the corners with Torres.

Kirk is a rookie, and unfortunately, many people are going to watch the bad more than the good because of it. I love Kirk, especially because at any level he adjusts, which he is going to do back at the majors. As a lefty, he might never hit Lefty pitchers, but still, he's awesome.

I think Terry has done a great job, looking at the big picture. No one thought that by May 23rd the Mets would be 2 games over .500. Tell me, who thought that, at any time during this past offseason? I doubt many, but here they are. And not every manager is perfect, but Terry has done wonders so far with the cards he was dealt, and he will continue especially when people come off the DL.

unless the Mets don't expect Ike's return, or unless they'd be using Duda as trade bait; I wouldn't move Duda out of the OF with Ike's AAA stint...he's starting to progress, and the only way that he's going to get any better is to keep plugging away out there (even if we have to suffer the growing pains)...Baxter is also a first baseman (actually that is pretty much all he was when the Pads drafted him), let him get some playing time at 1st instead...

Got to page 2 and fought the urge to vomit. Instead, came up w/ my own plan.

1 - Sign David and Johan to 10 year extensions, $25m per apiece.
2 - Trade RA Dickey for Zack Greinke and Dillon Gee for David Price.
3 - The Wilpons can buy the Yankees, and trade all our starters for all of theres.
4 - Fire TC, replace him with John McGraw.
5 - Remember, had Luis Castillo not dropped that ball we'd have been one game closer to the playoffs that year.
6 - Ban all female reporters from the clubhouse.
7 - Ban all white reporters from the clubhouse.
8 - Ban all reporters from the clubhouse.
9 - Purposely mix up the Yankee's Season Tix holder list with the Mets...then explain it was all an April Fools Joke.
10 - Fire John McGraw and replace him with Nitey.
11 - Fire Sandy and replace him with a rented mule.
12 - Spend millions of dollars to prove the world is flat...then post a topic on it and spend 5 or 6 pages arguing why it is or is not so.
13 - Retire John Niese's number...just 'cause.
14 - Declare August 3rd Ruben Tejada day and celebrate it at Fenway.
15 - Ask Bud Selig to change the name of the National League to the American National League, and the American League to the National American League (ooo! that one was inspired).
16 - Pick 9 reasons the Mets will win the world series in 2027 (I have a 5 year old nephew who's a helluva hitter)...
17 - Change the uniforms to scarlet and puce (is that even a color?)
18 - Trade Pedro Beato for Josh Hamilton.
19 - Sign Vladimir Putin, er, no, I mean Guerrero and guarantee him 5 years (thanks Steve Phillips, you jackarse).
And 20 - Buy the Giants, Fire Tom Coughlin because, well, ya know, coaches don't matter much, and that Coughlin feller is too tough on his players, and well, he calls stupid plays and, well, he's only won 2 super bowls.

That was fun...

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I don't understand everyone's interest in moving Duda or Murphy every time someone isn't playing. Unless they aren't players we expect to be around for a while, keep them in their positions and let them develop into a RF and 2B respectively. Otherwise they will always be "playing out of position."

I wouldn't make any changes myself but as long as he's in the outfield, Duda will always be playing out of position and IF 1B was vacated, I would slide him there rather than play Turner or Baxter (am I missing some better option here?). I see no reason to move Murphy fulltime although I have no problem sliding him over in-game at times.

I stated this in the Ike thread, but it all seems too obvious to happen if Ike is demoted: Bay in LF, Torres in CF, Nieuwenhuis in RF, and Duda at 1B.

I really, really hope we don't see Turner somehow factor into the mix with him getting everyday playing time at 2B (with Murphy at 1B) or at 1B. I feel the same way about Baxter; keep him on the bench and let him spell Bay once in awhile.

Move away from the must win now approach and realize we are in Year one of the rebuild, then do the following:

1. Trade Torres for anything and promote den Dekks to play CF, move Kirk to RF and Duda to LF
2. Release Jason Bay
3. Release Acosta and bring up Elvin Ramirez
4. Deal Byrdak and promote Edgin
5. Deal Dickey, Valdespin, and Rauch for a blue-chip catching prospect (Travis D'arnaud or Yasmani Grandal)
6. Promote Harvey to take Dickey's place in the rotation
7. Promote Mejia to take over the 5th spot in the rotation
8. Deal Murphy, Parnell, and Turner to the Reds for Billy Hamilton and Donnie Joseph
9. Promote Havens to play 2nd (when he gets his avg to an acceptable #)
10. With 4 of the first 75 picks, draft the best players available (regardless of position)

That strikeout rate is going to translate swimmingly to the major league level.

Promoting a bunch of guys before they're ready isn't necessarily a recipe for success.

In all fairness to MDD, Nieuwy's k-rate is bad too, as he 's on pace to K 175-180 times.

I'd rather work for the mule......
