I would THINK a move was made because you wanted a fresh arm for tonight, but Egbert threw 2 innings last night, so he's almost surely unavailable.
Also: he stinks. Don't care what the stats say in AAA: tops out at 88-89, not usable offspeed pitches. Throws weird which gives him some ROOGy potential I guess, but fastball is straight as heck.
Not to mention, this goes completely against what TC was saying about Byrdak's usage. You dumped a lefty (he wasn't a matchup lefty, but still) for, at best, a low leverage ROOGy.

Thats being generous. I'm not sure he's even "AAA". He's been awful every year in AAA until this one.
I really meant stuff wise but point taken. The few times I've stuck with the game long enough to notice him he throws a non-moving FB 87-89 (maybe a few 90) and a changeup that looks like his FB.

He throws some pitches in the dirt sometimes that look like the could be sliders, too, don't forget.

Welp, I anxiously await TC, Sandy, whoever to explain this one.
I got nothing.
-Not fresh -Not good -Contradicts the whole overuse of Byrdak thing that just yesterday TC reiterated -Not on the 40 man
I mean if we're going with "light on stuff guys succeeding in AAA that aren't on the 40 man", wouldn't Justin Hampson to replace Carson make like 100000x more sense? Fresh arm, dominates against lefties the last 2 years, has been going multi-innings lately, prior major league success.
Keep in mind both guys would be like 17th and 18th on my callup list, but yeah.
For the record: we DID have a 40 man spot open before this move, right? We're not going to DFA someone for Jack Egbert, are we?
