I realize he's 37 years old, but the Mets should step up and guarentee his option year next and throw in one year for good measure. R.A. is a the kind of player that makes it fun to be a Mets fan. Great attitude and great results...and he's been a bargain.
I understand it was jus the the Pirates and Padres this week, but he allowed just one run in 14 1/3 innings. He has a 1.10 WHIP ths year. Extend the man already!

I think it will happen. He has an option for what 5 million next year? Pick it up and add one more with an option for the 3rd at 6 to 7 mill per year
I don't see why Dickey would agree to that. He's easily worth 9-11 million on the open market. I would think tearing up his option and giving him 16-18 million for 2 years would be the best case scenario.

Has anyone listened to the sporting life piece on Dickey from ESPN? It chronicles from his early childhood where he was abused sexually and him overcoming that to his well traveled career (like him becoming a top prep arm then finding out he had no UCL in his elbow).
I clearly remember the time he came up with rangers after re-inventing himself as a knuckler and he was BOMBED, giving up 6HR's...I remember saying this guy is terrible as he was throwing mid 80's on his FB and his knuckler was nowhere near what it was today.
He finally came to grips with his past with a therapist IIRC...fast forward to now, hes arguably an ace and finally seeing success. Hearing him talk and divulge into his past, there's no one that I'd root for more to get a well deserve extension! Great success story

The best blue collar pitcher in our history overshadowing Rick Reed and Steve Traechsel by MILES. Hard to say who is our ace as we have TWO aces right now!
