OK, my final wish list for the first two choices (not happening on Fried and likely Hawkins)...none of these guys would upset me...

1. Courtney Hawkins
2. Max Fried
3. Pierce Johnson
4. Matt Smoral
5. Walker Weickel
6. Joey Gallo
7. Lance McCullers

I would take McCullers, Fried, Gioloito, or Russell at #12 and probably one of the catchers (Trahan or Coulter) at #35.

Doesn't sound like either catcher will be there. Strong rumors Coulter has a deal with the Brewers and Trahan has been linked heavily with the Cardinals the last few days.

What about Joey CALLO?

On a serious note, I like what I've heard re: McCullers. Don't really have any interest in Cecchini. I'm assuming there are no high upside catchers in this draft we can grab? Because the Mets sure could use one.

Last year we crashed twice, right after Nimmo got picked, and then at the end of the first round. In each case we were out for a half hour or so. I think it was only twice, did we crash again after that?

NYFS definitely loves the draft.

What happens that typically crashes the server at big moments is you get hundreds of people constantly refreshing the same page. if you remember that tonight and try and take a breath between times we refresh the screen hoping for new news, the server will have a better chance of making it thru without a reboot. It's not the volume, its the simultaneous repeat requests for the same page. It creates duplicate connections, and then each time you refresh, it expands exponentially.

Ed, could we get this stickied just for today? There are probably going to be more guests than usual, and maybe they'll actually read it.

Kevin Goldstein's final mock, with the Mets taking Giolito:
Quote:
He's a tough sign here, an even tougher one later, but the Mets are rumored to be making another splash. If they get cold feet today, they could go in a number of directions, all of them high school-based, and in particular Corey Seager, Cecchini and another possible difficult sign in Lance McCullers.
I'm thinking the most likely pick is probably still Cecchini.

I like McCullers there, but not sure he's worth paying more than $2.5M to. Giolito could be worth it, but I don't think you can afford to go much over $3M for him either, without gutting most of the rest of the draft. And there's obviously some risk there as well.

As for Cecchini, he may not be the highest upside guy, but I still like his upside better than Dahl, Wacha, or Seager. I'm guessing the Mets would take Fried or Hawkins if they fell, but the latest expectations seem to be that they won't be there.

Is there any chance Stroman could drop to the Mets?
