Young was activated, Beato goes down. Hefner survives.

They prefer Hefner. It's not that crazy. Beato really isn't that good and he's pretty useless against lefties.

Also, there's a good chance that Beato could improve with more minor league experience. With Hefner, what you see is what you get, most likely.

Beato needs minor league time. I'm totally fine with this, to be honest. Live arm, but he struggled a lot after the league saw him last year.

My only gripe is the duplication of Long Man roles. Unless this means Batista shifts to higher leverage stuff which is a horrific idea.

Really one of Hefner or Batista should go down for Edgin to get that second lefty with setup upside.

Right, made worse by the fact that Terry doesn't seem particularly adept as using the long man.

Edgin has been much better over his last 10 appearances too. I think he'll be up here sooner than later.

He's actually been flat dominant against AAA LHB, which is really the first time he's shown a bit of LOOGy-ness. Not that he's necessarily been "bad" against RHB and I wouldn't give up hope of a crossover reliever in there, but he's got an above 40% K rate against AAA LHB and a good GB rate to boot. Righties, he's been an extreme flyballers and just meh K rate of 18%.

Anyway, he's probably ready to be a matchup asset right now, and be a good one, but I guess maybe they want him working on his approach against RHB before they bring him up?
