I bought 4th row bleacher seats off stubhub and trekked to the Stadium tonight. The weather was gorgeous but our beloved Mets gave us absolutely nothing to root for.

And they cut off beer sales in the 5th inning in the bleachers!! Who has ever heard of such a thing?

Only rich people are allowed to get drunk.

Apparently that's the case. The whole thing was such a mess. There were 50 people on line for beer and them they just announce that they stop selling. Then everyone runs to a nearby cop to find out where they can still get beer, and he tells everyone to go to the grandstand area to buy the beer and bring it to the bleachers. Even the cop admitted that the rule was a joke.
I'm far from a big drinker but I needed something to gets through that disaster.

New Yankee stadium is nice but it just doesn't have the same vibe as citi. Even a lot of Yankee fans I know admit that citi is a better place tO watch a game

I Have to feel for Terry on This one. Your no-hit pitcher, who is coming off of surgery and rehab is still someone to watch carefully. Would I have let Santana continue in his regularly scheduled next start or give him a few more days to rest? Tough decision

I'm no shoulder expert or anything, but I don't see what an extra day or two of rest is going to do in the long run. If the guy's shoulder is going to go again, it's going to go. Throwing a baseball is a violent activity. You're telling me waiting a day to hurl the baseball a couple hundred times is going to save a guy's arm? I just don't see it.

The other side of this is the idea that Santana would have pitched better in the exact same situation of he had one less day of rest than he did, especially since getting him extra rest when possible has been a theme, and attributable to his successes supposedly, otherwise.

Well, like I said in the IGT, he always gets bombed by the Yankees at YS, so yeah...of course, he would have pitched against the Nats instead of Hefner and would have missed the Yankee series. Definitely would have been nice to have him pitch against the Nats since that game is more important, but, as you said, they've never skipped the 5th starter to keep him on 4 days' rest (when we all would have loved to have the 5th starter skipped). Although now that I think of it, they really haven't had many days off so it's pretty fair not to skip the 5th starter and give the whole rotation an extra day.

Anyway, it goes to show how well things have gone when I'm talking about skipping the 5th starter after the talk had been of a possible 6-man rotation to lessen the burden on Santana. Safe to say after Terry's comments that that's not happening this season!

Over the years, we've heard a lot of "he knows his own body", especially with respect to aces like Pedro and Johan.

In reality, I think that's highly questionable. There's just too much pride involved combined with whatever it is that makes injuries hurt less before they've had a chance to stiffen.

I also agree that it's unwise to draw too many conclusions off of an outing against the Yankees.

A lot of guys have letdowns the following starts after huge performances. I personally don't think we should read too much into it...yet
