I actually think he's a good candidate for a mid September "reward" call-up. He's on the 40-man already and the guy has been through a ton the past couple of years.

This is an injury prone 25 year old in AA who is hitting .227/.357/.369 this season. What, exactly, is exciting about this?

He actually hit better in June than he has in July. He's been a productive player for far more than just those 13 games.

Good question.

If you look at both of their minor league careers, they have about the same number of plate appearances.

Murphy (over 4 seasons)
.295/.356/.452, 139 R, 296 H, 65 2B, 4 3B, 28 HR, 171 RBI, 21 SB, 8 CS, 97 BB, 118 K

Havens (over 5 seasons)
.259/.364/.440, 160 R, 272 H, 58 2B, 6 3B, 40 HR, 139 RBI, 9 SB, 7 CS, 159 BB, 287 K

The best reason I can think of to trade Murphy at this point (in the offseason) is that he is going into his arbitration years and you can get a pretty decent return. You of course would be taking a huge risk giving the reigns to Havens given is history of injury and lack of experience. I'd take that risk personally. I realize some others wouldn't. I'm comfortable with both players.
