What do we make of Gonzalez Germen?

First off, I think we need an updated scouting report. The ones I've read in the past - smallish righty with NO breaking pitch, fringy velocity but a good changeup - doesn't sound interesting at all, especially considering performance/age/level.

But he's running a 5:1 K/BB in AA now. He's almost age appropriate after being way old in the past.

Could he be this year's Collin McHugh? Kinda surprising initial assignment, surprising promotion and then just runs with it?

I have to say, Gorski hasn't been that good this year. His current walk and strikeout rates really aren't any good and he's an extreme flyball pitcher (28.7 GB% per MLC). Hopefully we start seeing more of a gap between his walks and strikeouts.

His strikeout rate (18.9% of batters faced) is in the top 15 in the league. So is his hit rate (opponents batting .235). The walk rate needs to come down, and I like to see a couple less HR, but he hasn't done too badly.

Maybe I'm short-changing the strikeout rate but his overall K/BB is just 1.83, which ranks 75th in the league (and it's not like he's young either). That poor K/BB in conjunction with less than 30% groundballs is not good.

I don't expect the groundball or strikeout tendencies to drastically change from where they are now, but yeah, hopefully he really cuts down on the walks.
