I'm excited about Zack Wheeler and I thought Sandy did a great job getting him from the Giants.
But I have to admit that every time I see Beltran on a highlight recap--and it's pretty often--i wonder what would have happened if he was still a Met.

I still say that something doesnt quite add up regarding Beltran's suddenly healthy knees. I know that the doctor Beltran and Reyes visited in Canada last year was suspected of providing HGH to other patients so I am a little weary in believing that Beltrans resurgence is on the up and up.

Zack Wheeler could be the 2016 NL MVP.

we could have still signed Beltran
In a video game, yes, that would be possible.

I tend to think the same, and i also believe Beltran used back in the Royals/Astros time too. But i tend to think that everyone who is unbelievably good is a PED guy so.....
But as for the move, I think we made the right one, even if Wheeler would happen to be a bust at some point. He looked like he was heading down the road of future DH at best.

That would be interesting.

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:
"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."
But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

One thing you are forgetting: The Wilpons could not afford to sign Beltran and as it turns out Reyes too. I think Mets got lucky having Tejada and Duda taking their spots in the linuep. Those 2 guys make near the minimum compared to Beltran and Reyes who make 20 times more.

But wouldn't it be awesome if Tejada was our second baseman and Duda was our left fielder, along with the superstars?
