I just wanted to take a moment to point out how great our rotation has been at getting strikeouts this season. Excluding Chris Young:

Dickey is second in the NL with 116 strikeouts.

Santana is eleventh in the NL with 93 strikeouts.

Gee (shocker) is seventeenth in the NL with 89 strikeouts.

Niese is twenty-fifth with 85 strikeouts.

It's really nice to have a bunch of guys who can miss some bats, certainly a far cry from the days when Glavine and Trachsel were rotation stalwarts.

I doubt Harvey is up any time soon unless Young gets hurt. Hard to imagine the Mets bumping Young from the rotation for a rookie. Equally hard to imagien Harvey being better than Young has been to this point as a rookie 3.30 era, 1.40 whip. 1 game to decide the season I'm going with Chris Young for 2012 over Harvey.

For real. We don't want Harvey up any time soon, as it means something has gone wrong. It's not like the guy is dominating Triple-A, either. Given his struggles with efficiency in Buffalo, I doubt he'd be making it a full six innings very often if he was on the Mets right now.

I think eventually Harvey will be a nice mid-rotation innings eater, but there's really no reason he should be called up to the big club with the way the current staff has been pitching.

Trachsel wasn't bad, and Glavine was obviously good, but you can get away with a lot more if are getting strikeouts regularly. And by get away with a lot more, I mean do stuff like start Duda and Murphy without things getting ugly defensively.

True!

I'd like to point out that while Murphy defense at 2B has not been great, he has been pretty good considering his limited time there in the bigs. He is no defensive gem at 2B but again, Improvement has been tremendous.

One thing I find funny with those Ks, is that both Gee and Nose Job have better stuff than Johan and R.Ace! Yet the K's are not there. Then again those guys can actually pitch and control their pitches more so, so it makes sense when you think about it. I'd just like to see them do better. Especially Gee.

Niese and Gee have better stuff than Dickey? They may have MORE stuff (as in number of different pitches to throw), but better? Dickey's knuckleball may be the best single pitch in baseball at the moment.

Dickey's knuckleball is one another plane of existence at the moment. It's like he's playing in the wrong league.

The reason Dickey has been so good, is because he is different than other knucklers who threw it up there and said, "ok, try to hit it"...

He has different speeds with it, cuts it a bit at times.

Personally, I think he may have developed--revolutionized the pitch a bit...
