I could see them demoting Kirk; he's down to a .715 OPS and that's with a .363 BABIP. He's just striking out too much to support an underwhelming output of power. The Mets already have 5 other outfielders who aren't likely going anywhere: Bay, Torres, Duda, Hairston, and Valdespin, and Baxter is on his way back.

Kirk going down could also buy us an extra year of control (due to service time), which would be a nice outcome of demoting him.

I think Johan is DL'ed tomorrow and when Baxter comes up Kirk goes down. Hefner will go back down Wednesday for Harvey or McHugh.

Throughout this swoon, I've consistently said the lack of Hefner in our lives has been what was hurting us.
