Rick ankiel was designated for assignment by the nats. I know he is another lefty and we have a logjam in of but any thought of picking him up? He could even help on the bullpen...kidding ..maybe...

I believe he said he was going to try hitting now.

Do it. Get Rick. Our outfield really lacks strength on their throws. Not accurate at all either.

There's too many OFs already.

Bay - who you have to play some, hope he finds his stroke

Torres - at least until the mets trade him for "future considerations"

Kirk - who's maybe due for a minor league stint (was he sent down yesterday or was that just speculation??)

Duda . . . what can be said that hasn't been said.

Hairston - nice vs lefties, mixed reviews in a larger role than that.

Valdespin - he's been the best of the bunch over the last 4-6 weeks.

That's 6 outfielders and Mike Baxter's coming back soon makes 7.

There's also a guy named Loewen who's on the 40 man roster who probably deserves a look. that makes 7.

Rick would make 8. That's more than they need.

Even if you put Kirk in AAA so he can play ever day and figure out how to hit lefties I don't see how Rick fits a need on this team. It's far better to play the young guys and see how they do.

I'd be praying for line drives to wherever Ankiel is playing. His arm is straight up SICK.

I think that would make him a 1bman or DH. I'd grab him though.
