With Edgin and Harvey in the majors, deGrom, Bennett, Kolarek, Fulmer, den Dekker likely to contribute, and the possible upside of Vaughn and Morris...even Forsythe, Goeddel and Peavey might prove useful.

Omar left Sandy with some very solid tools to work with on his way out.

Interesting article as well

Sort of curious why one of my guys (Bennett) never becomes part of the conversation.

One of these things doesn't belong here.

Hint: #44 in 2011.....

Bennett throws mid- upper 80's and throws a super slow curve, not likely a recipe for MLB success. No offense Jdawg it's a little silly to say guys like deGrom are likely to contribute. He's had 1 A+ start so far, a lot can happen from now until the MLB level.

Oops. Yep, Fulmer snuck on there. I thought I had corrected that before posting. Obviously not.

As silly as thinking Cecchini might. Or Nimmo. Or anyone that somehow makes it onto top ten lists who have never played above short season ball.

I have seen deGrom. I saw Parnell before he was even drafted. Bennett has LOOGY stuff (again, I have seen him personally). I guess we'll just have to wait to see whose position seems more on point.

I've seen Bennett in BK both on TV and in person and he's a soft-tosser with a super slow curve. I don't see many guys like that succeeding as LOOGY's in the majors. I guess we will see. As for Cecchini or Nimmo... no deGrom is obviously CLOSER but "likely to contribute" is a little strong for me.

How about, a solid chance of contributing at the major league level...

And Bennett is a soft tosser, if 89-90 is soft-tossing. The curve is what sets up the fastball. He'll never be a starting pitcher, but by eye test, he's got like a 12 mph split on the fastball--curve.

And he's lefty.

No matter what happens with these players I'll always remember how upset I was that they didn't grab AJ Cole in the 3rd round. A guy who some had as a possible top 10 pick just a month prior is sitting there for you in the 3rd and you pass :( He's already been used as a nice trade chip..

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?
