Lagares won the voting for our Defensive Player of the Month for August on the strength of his major league-leading 13 Defensive Runs Saved. It’s the second consecutive August in which Lagares copped the award, this time beating out Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons, Marlins shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria and Astros outfielder Jake Marisnick.

Lagares entered September with 30 Defensive Runs Saved for the season. He’s the first outfielder to post back-to-back seasons of 25 Defensive Runs Saved since 2003, when Baseball Info Solutions (a data-tracking service for teams and media) began tallying the stat.

So basically the first ever/first since the stat has existed. Not bad, Mr. Lagares.

3.7 WAR in 102 games. What would that project to if he played in 140 to 150 games?

Juan Lagares has been active for the following periods this year:

March 31 through April 13: 13 games, 13 starts.

May 1 through June 1: 30 games, 23 starts, 29 appearances.

June 26th through now: 60 games, 55 starts, 60 appearances.

TOTAL: 103 games active: 88 starts, 102 appearances.

LOL indeed.

Considering how bad he is versus righties, Terry could actually be justified in benching him more often than that.

FG has him up to 4 war for the season (in just 103 games). It's time to take a victory lap! \:D/

Lagares has been awesome but I have a hard time equating "running more" with going from 15 career steals in 224 games = 40+ steals. Seems very unrealistic to me.
