As for the starting pitchers, d’Arnaud offered a little word association.

Harvey? “Bulldog. We actually have two of those.”

DeGrom? “Stellar.’’

Wheeler? “Bulldog.’’

Syndergaard? “Beast.’’

Niese? “Animal.’’

Colon? “Vet.’’

Gee? “Gangster.’’

Imagine that.

I guess with 2 bulldogs, an animal and a beast it makes sense to have a vet on staff:)

Sidenote- Kevin Kernan doesn't get enough credit for these feature pieces on players. Always gets some interesting quotes.

For me, it’s going to help me stay healthy and going into the season being the strongest I’ve ever been,’’ d’Arnaud said. “I’m doing all these exercises that I didn’t even know that I could physically do. It raises my confidence and my athleticism, which ultimately translates to baseball. This is all specialized for baseball.

It begins!

I know the comp has been making the rounds recently, but Devin Mesoraco's renaissance last year kept me level-headed while watching Travis struggle so mightily over the first half.

I still feel this team's success is contingent on Wright returning to form and Cuddyer staying on the field -- but I think a lot of the preseason prognosticators predicting 80-84 wins are overlooking what a healthy and confident d'Arnaud can bring to the lineup. I'm very excited to see him get a full season of at bats.

And I'm kind of glad about that.

TDA will also wear number 7 this year.

Listened to Toby's interview with someone from BP. They seem pretty bullish on Wilmer and TdA. I think those two performing at a reasonably high level (relative to their abilities) has me really excited for this year.

Both of those players are capable of helping the team score some more runs. And both of those players have worked hard to improve from making the other team score more runs. I'm bullish on them, too....
