Always a great sign when #1 hasn't pitched (really) and #6 and #8 won't pitch in 2018  (Not a knock on your list just oof) and that's the the "hope" that Dunn's shoulder issue is minor but knowing the Mets...

Chris Flexen at number 7 - and it not being necessarily out of place - is all you need to know about this farm system.

IF Flexen gets to 50 innings, which he should (my arbitrary cut-off), he's going to enter some rarified air in the history of the game if his current stats keep up. His current 7.30 FIP would tie for the 7th worst season of 50+ innings IN THE HISTORY OF BASEBALL. There are 24,267 such individual seasons of 50+ innings in that data set.

7.71 is the record. Joe Magrane for the 1994 Angels. No, in case you're wondering, Joe Magrane didn't rebound to have a great 1995.

But Kay and Prevost will be back!

Somebody said that Paez looked terrible. (I think Metro posted that).

I think you're too high on Oswalt, and low on Nido. I'd probably put Gimenez at #1 until I hear a reason not to. Haven't done my list yet.

Guy I spoke to gave Paez a "2" grade "awful even when he was hitting". He loves Gimenez and Vientos, not at all an Oswalt believer, didn't mention Nido either way (didn't come up), loves Villines (said he'd "easily" have him top 15-20 in the system... that high)

He said Villines is at "least" as good as any reliever in the system and "maybe my favorite"

Ten pitches of New and Improved Tyler Bashlor was enough to convince me he's a MLB impact reliever

Something seems to have flipped regarding Bashlor and his command. Late in the season in AA, even when he was missing, he was missing close.

Hopefully it's legit because, if it is, I think he's our most interesting bullpen prospect since Familia

I think 10-15 is the right range for Oswalt. He doesn't have the upside of the pitchers higher on the list but dominating AA has to count for something. He had a great game against that Trenton lineup that none of the other AA guys could hold their own against.

To me he's Flexen with fringe-ier secondaries, more ground ball potential on his FB, and better command. It's not a sexy package but it's a package that could be a solid innings-eater if all goes right.
