Noah Syndergaard played catch on Wednesday, putting him on track to throw a bullpen session in the next few days. It’s a needed step for Syndergaard to remain on pace to pitch in a game before the season ends.
“If he comes out of this fine, he’s going to throw a ’pen,” manager Terry Collins said.
Soreness prevented Syndergaard from throwing in a simulated game on Sunday, a setback in his attempt to pitch in a big league game for the first time since tearing his lat muscle in April.
