Here's a video of Eduardo Salazar. Of course I'm not sure it's the one linked to the Mets.

I take it those are 2017 guys not 2016. (can't access the Balder article).

Yes. The Mets are expected to sign the four top 50 guys plus these two. He gives no info on them except for exactly what I said.

Longenhagen has Mauricio at #3 and Hernandez at #14 (Badler has him at #16). Drops a 45 on the former.

Using his top 25

1 TB (top overall)
3 Boston 2, 12, 20
2 NYM, 3, 14
1 Seattle (4)
2 Milwaukee (2, 24)
3 Toronto (6, 18, 21)
1 Phily (7)
2 Cleveland (8, 13)
3 Yankees (9, 11, 25)
1 Arizona 10
1 Minni 15
2 Colorado 16, 22
1 Detroit 17
1 Miami (23)

So, 16 teams didn't sign a guy in the top 25. (and some of those 16 were likely in the penalty and not allowed to).

7 teams signed 17 of the top 25.

I know that's a small snapshot, but I wonder if some teams find the international market either not that interesting or too competitive. Some teams play it hard.

I've always loved a good underdog story. Go Mets (2018). I know an underdog when I see one.

It's a huge lottery. I'd like to see some stats showing how often the bonus babies are successful. I wonder what the better plan actually is between spreading the bonus out or signing top players. Mets seem to alternate between the strategies every year. Either way, I see no problem going for the top players. Shoot your shot.

It's SUPER early but the Mets seem to have faired better than most on these big ticket guys in recent years.

Rosario looks like the best guy from his class and Gimenez is probably top 5 as of now in his class (Vladito, Soto, and Tatis ahead).

Mauricio is going to get the highest bonus the Mets have ever given.

And btw, Sanchez lists Hernandez as SS, while I believe Badler listed him as OFer, fwiw.
