Looks like a beast. Mets are doing very well in Venezuela. Let's hope the political situation there doesn't derail the pipeline.

Catcher's such a tough spot to fill. Love moves like this. Granted their last 2 big money international catchers didn't amount to much (Jose Garcia & Ali Sanchez - though the Jury might still be out on Sanchez).

and, I've always loved a good underdog story. Go Mets (2018).

The only jury still out on Sanchez is maybe the one that sat for the Bill Cosby case.

Braves are signing some "big" Korean SS prospect at the behest of ex-Met scouting director Chad MacDonald (who works for them now).

Is MacDonald the guy that had the iffy record in drafts (not just with Mets)?

Wasn't he in charge of the 2011 draft? That may have been the best one of this era.

His one draft with the Mets was incredible 2010

Harvey, DeGrom, MDD, Edgin, Goeddell, Akeel Morris. He was assistant GM in SD so he didn't run their draft and he was international scouting director in Arizona. You sure you aren't thinking of DePo's SD draft track record? Pretty sure McDonald's only year as scouting director anywhere was with the Mets. He was booted in SD when they switched GM's.

Yeah his only draft was with the Mets

"Adam Rubin just reported that Chad MacDonald, who has been overseeing international scouting for the Arizona Diamondbacks, will be named the next scouting director of the Mets.

MacDonald was hired by Arizona under former GM Josh Byrnes, with whom he also worked in Cleveland.

Prior to joining the D-backs, MacDonald spent three seasons (2003-05) with the Los Angeles Angels and another three years (2000-02) as a scout with the Cleveland Indians."

"With the team announcing A.J. Preller as its next general manager, Assistant General Manager Chad MacDonald is following A.J. Hinch out the door. He may not be the last, either.

Although a complete house-cleaning is not expected, team sources have told U-T San Diego that anyone with close ties to deposed GM Josh Byrnes may not survive the transition to the organization’s fourth general manager in the last six years."

Either way he didn't run any other drafts so a track "poor drafts" elsewhere . He got a promotion and came here, another to go to SD and then got "screwed" by a regime change. It happens. If anything he might be a nice guy to bring back in the off-season if Sandy moved upstairs

The kid the Braves signed apparently is said to be potentially the best Korean prospect ever (not that that's saying much)
