(This may get updated in the next couple days, still, lets see how it looks).

Cl: Familia
Setup: Ramos
Lefties: Blevins, Edgin/Smoker

That's 4.

Robles (has potential)
Smith (probably opens in AAA but might not be there long).
Sewald.
Lugo/Gsellman - if bumped from being starters.

They could use another lefty but that's at last, pretty solid. It's not drop dead georgeous 75 million dollar Yankee bullpen, but it's solid.

Sewald is better than you are giving him credit for. He and Smoker will be assets in 2018.

don't love Robles. Really don't like Smoker at all. Sewald has been pleasant surprise. Would really like to see Lugo or Gsellman converted to the role though. Could potentially have something there.

If you're right about those 2 (and didn't mean to imply Sewald was bad, I think he's a lock for the 25. Robles might be the guy who has to fight for a job), but with everyone on board, then the Pen is pretty close 7 strong. That's a good thing and it was fixed up pretty cheap, by trading an expiring vet, 2 prospects and committing to a 1 year 8 million dollar contract next year (Ramos).

I want one more professional arm. If the price isn't too crazy on Bryan Shaw, I wouldn't mind him. Or, if the Tigers are -- whatever the Tigers are doing - I would call about Shane Greene.

You have to wonder if this changes their thinking on Reed. You can easily defend holding on to him, but you hope they don't turn down the right package.

That's a pretty solid 4 and you have to throw Sewald in there in my opinion, not sure if that's enough turnover from this years disatrous pen for my liking but I guess it depends on Familia's health and if Ramos can pitch as well as he has in years past. I think Gsellman could be solid out of the pen but they would have to get some rotation depth, I'm confident deGrom and Thor can hold things down at the top of the rotation but Harvey seems washed up, Wheeler I have little confidence in and Matz can't stay healthy. I like Lugo he'd be a solid guy at the back of the rotation but if you don't bring anybody else in we're gonna end up with Montero and Pill in the rotation again and that's not gonna cut it.

I dont see how they can seriously go into next year counting on Robles and Smoker as locks for the pen. That would be malpractice. Not to mention who the heck knows how Familia is going to respond to his injury. As far as I'm concerned, the only locks for next year are Ramos, Blevins and Sewald.

There is a lot of work still to be done if they're serious about contending.

Yeah, put me in the camp of Robles is unreliable (which is putting it very lightly). Or hot garbage and I'd prefer him to never pitch a meaningful inning again.

I think its important to see how Familia throws when he comes back. If he looks like a shell of his former self, we may need to look for a closer. If he can pitch like he used to, thats awesome.

Either way, I still think this team needs another high end piece, like a Reed or McGee to really be competent.

Reed type, Ramos, Familia, Blevins, Sewald, Smith would be a solid core.

Agreed with this. don't know why we'd pencil in the second lefty. I get that they're here but both are awful.

Trade Reed then resign him as a FA.
