Would Jake McGee be a good target to go after next year?

Do you see the Mets spending on Bullpen?

Yes.

No, not really.

I think they'll add a few guys to compete in Spring Training, but I don't think we see any big name free agent relievers brought in. That money will, hopefully, be spent on C, 3B, and/or CF.

My uneducated opinion is that the Mets are thinking Familia closes, Ramos sets up, Blevins and Sewald provide some reliable 7th inning options, one of the starters becomes a multi-inning long reliever, and some of the recent acquired young arms compete with Robles, Smoker, etc. to fill in the final couple spots. Maybe they add a veteran or two to the mix, but no one of the caliber that is a guarantee to make the team.

Just my opinion, of course.

So based on our latest roster...
I don't think we will make any FA signs for 2018 bullpen
One could argue we already made enough upgrades via mid-season trades.

Closer
Jeurys Familia

Setup Guys
AJ Ramos
Jerry Blevins

Middle Relief
P Sewald

Long Relief
R Montero or R gsellman or S Lugo

Final 2 mid Relief spots will be earned via spring battle royal
- C Bradford - DFA candidate
- Rhame
- J Callahan
- J Smoker - DFA candidate
- D Smith
- K McGowan
- J Smoker - DFA candidate
- E goeddel - DFA candidate
- H Robles - Non Tender candidate

They'll need to add another lefty, but the rest of the pen will be

Familia
Ramos
Blevins
Bradford
Sewald
Lugo

Ha! Have you seen him pitch? He's been a little better in August, which might be enough to save his spot on the 40 Man roster, but he's been consistently lousy.

Bradford has pitched well, he won't get DFA'D. Bye Smoker, maybe Goeddel as well. Robles maybe in the fence to non tender but I'm sure Mets still love the arm.

Have zero interest in bringing Montero back. Let him go walk in runners with bases loaded and give up inopportune home runs with another team. Smoker is awful. Bye Bye

Familia
Ramos
Sewald
Blevins
One of the three prospects from the Reed deal
Francisco Liriano
Lugo or Gsellman

If Robles is gone, it's almost certainly via a trade.

We need wholesale change in the BP imo. I'd be looking to trade Familia this offseason for some SP depth. Then I'd go all out for McGee and Gregerson. Then I'd try and pry Brach away from the Orioles with a quantity package (Harvey, Cheech, Robles and Nido?).

Bullpen of:
Brach
McGee
Ramos
Gregerson
Sewald
Blevins
X

Don't know what value Familia would have having not pitched. I'd be open to moving Ramos otoh. I'm not the biggest fan there but his counting stats and durability should hold some value.
