So let's see, if they get the #3 pick they can end up with Phil Humber and if they get the #10 they can possibly get the next Michael Conforto?

MLB draft crapshoot is enough for me to not care whether they pick 5th or 15th.

It does matter, though. Getting the 5th pick doesn't just mean a top 5 player, but potentially more money for the backend. That could be, say two of the top 25 prospects in the draft if the money is used correctly.

Goal for me would be top 7 pick plus the money from when Bruce declines the QO. Would allow the Mets to truly jump into next year's class and grab a few of the top guys.

Only 19 of the next 55 games against bad teams. We're sitting at the 7th right now. Its looking good for a top 7 pick.

+100. Not just about the pick but about the pool.

7 will be a darn good opportunity, but it's still blowable.

It's easier to root for losses as long as the Mets insist on playing the vets. It'll be harder when and if we ever start playing Dom/Rosario/Wilmer consistently in September.

With just about the worst pitching in the league, I think a pretty successful tank is a given. I feel pretty confident that they'll pick 6 or 7. It'll help with the international signing period too.

Ofcourse, any real benefit is a long ways away, but it's a little cherry on top of an otherwise lost season.

I could be wrong but I think they did away with that tier system based on record and now everyone gets the same amount of IFA pool money.

At least I thought I read that somewhere.

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

Dropped to 9th with this little winning streak. We need some L's to get back on track.

You're right. I thought the same amounts were just for this year but they're for the rest of the current agreement. Small market teams can get a bit more 5.75 or 5.25. Big market teams 4.75
