I don’t buy that it was ever a question Cabrera would be back. Same with Reyes. I’m kind of shocked reporters are acting like it’s not a forgone conclusion he returns.

Since I always expect the Mets to make me miserable I fully expect both those guys back and playing regularly. Maybe they go an add Frazier too.

Adam Rubin ✔ @AdamRubinMedia
Jack Voigt, Mets' Triple-A hitting coach, has been let go by Mets. He's well-regarded and will find a position somewhere.

Not sure why this, and Viola speculation. Seems like a really solid trio with Pedro.

Especially interesting given the reports Long may leave.

They need to clear a lot of payroll in order to have a $20 million hitting coach next year.

Keith Law: I saw him in HS and thought he had plus raw or better. I’m sticking to that – there’s 25 HR in there, at least.

Right now Dom's got a 28 homer pace per 162 games. Not bad. He's also got a .204 batting average, which is bad, but I think he'll get that up in time.

Between AAA and the MLB, Dom has now put up 25 homers this season

Dom is just now entering his prime ... so I think 25+ home run power is a given.

Which I think is amazing considering fans here were so panicked only a year ago that he would never have the home run power for 1st base.

He's gotten the latter 9 by completely selling out for power. 25 HR power isn't very cool if you have a .250 OBP.

Yeah it's odd that you see some fixated on a HR tally. There will be more to judging Smith than how many HRs he hits.

Plus let's face it, HR totals are 'naturally' inflated the last year or so in MLB with the juiced ball. I mean Reyes has 14 HR's this year for goodness sakes, and he hasn't had that kind of power in a decade
