Well Rene Rivera and Reyes were signed for comparative peanuts. There are few bad FA signings that make >$1 million per season. Blevins we traded for then re-signed, also at not a terribly prohibitive cost. Cabrera and Granderson are the only 'splurges' of that group and even Cabrera only got two years plus the option.

I agree but I think the other feller was talking about big name free agents. Of course there are good bargain bin deals every year.

I agree that Reyes & Rene Rivera were bad examples. The point stands though. Free agency, for all it's flaws, is often better than doing nothing. If you get a starter for 6 million a year (Cabrera), that's a good free agent signing. Obviously there's been a lot of bad free agency moves done, but going into a season with a hole in our roster isn't good either. Smart use of free agency is necessary unless you have a farm system that can plug every hole.

Ozuna is a fascinating talent...he could either explode or implode...

No chance I am paying the value in talent on that one...especially from a spare system...

He's also controllable I think for another two years. The only way I would even consider including Rosario is if I was 100% sure he can handle CF for the next 7 years at least.

Removing Rosario and creating hole to add Ozuna is not what good teams do, and we really have no excess in any particular area to move...sort of a zero sum game there...

Might be able to pique their interest in starting the discussion with Matz.

Matz for Ozuna would woo me into supporting the deal.
