I wanted to trade Bruce, but a small market move like this one has me searching through my dresser to find my 'New York Madoffs' t-shirt.

This is my favorite from any article i've read so far:

Quote:
In exchange for assuming responsibility for the remainder of Bruce’s contract this year, Cleveland surrendered just RHP Ryder Ryan, a player so notable that this is the first time his name has ever been mentioned on the site.

As an organization we should have learned that from the year Omar went crazy on relievers drafting Eddie Kunz and company and none including Kunz ever panned out.

With the recent trades of Duda, Reed and Bruce. Now we have 5 Eddie Kunz in the minor leagues.

I wouldn't even call it a small market move. Plenty of "small market" teams made fine moves this deadline (including 2 teams we dealt to!). I mean, technically, isn't what the Yankees proposed - trading better prospects to save a couple of million - more "small market" than what the Rays or Indians did in their dealings with us?

Its just a bad baseball business, period, regardless of what market you play in.

Because the Yankees have a payroll over $200 million they are entitled to not want to take on anymore salary if they can help it.

You just knew that the idea of a well run club with 4 aces was too good to be true as a Mets fan.

Back to earth we go!

Not sure what the angst was. If Luis Cessa was pulled from a start, then the return was pretty underwhelming.

Are folks really upset that Bruce didn't finish the year for the 70-92 team? He can be resigned in the winter just as easily if he remained to the end of the year...

The real crime here is not Ryder Ryan, who looks like a neat wild card, but the roster management after the trades.

I'm going to predict that three of the five relievers we have received will see the major leagues, with two having a solid impact.

Yeah yeah we can resign guys after the year. I'll bet it doesn't happen.

So we sell off guys for crap. Yes, that'll get you a 70 win team. But it's the not getting anything in return that gets you another 70 win team next year.

Sick of the owners and the management

Understand the overall upset with management....their hesitancy, and roster management has been awful.

And I hope we DON'T re-sign the same guys.

Not a big fan of other names thrown around either. But it's too much to ask or expect that this front office will find a couple guys before they break out.

For some reason fans don't want Bruce. But we're going to be reducing out over all team power with Dom and Amed. At least for a couple years. If we go with a low power "true" CF and hang onto one of our current guys as 3B there won't be a whole lot of pop in the line-up.
