Rosario is a player. Both homers oppo variety. And that range in the field is a thing of beauty.

He's the real deal. SS locked up for years, knock on wood.

I agree with this, but man do I scratch my head sometimes watching him swing at pitches a foot out of the zone.

Honestly, I think that is the only thing that could hold him back from being a superstar. Hopefully he can become a little more disciplined at the plate.

Yeah, Amed is going to K. It's just that simple. He likes to swing the bat and doesn't take many pitches. He will also dazzle as he did in the 9th with a homer against a pitcher with arguably the game's best pure "stuff."

Haven't read all 6 pages, so maybe it was mentioned, but Aaron Judge tied a record at today's game.

32 straight games with a strikeout. He ties Adam Dunn. One more, the record is all his. :-)

Which could eventually come back to bite him. But he also leads the AL in walks too.

I think it’s great,” Collins said of the Yankee Stadium experience. “You can’t have a better scenario, I don’t think, for young player development than pressure situations. I believe that at any level. There’s a time when they need to be challenged and when they come up here, you have to challenge them with big opportunities like tonight.”

"So who knows what the heck I was thinking when I pinch hit Reyes for Smith which completely contradicts everything I just said. I can't understand myself sometimes." Collins continued. (No, he didn't).

“You see 314 down the line and that’s pretty much what I was doing the first game and a half, I was pulling off pitches and rolling them over because I could see that short porch and just trying to do too much,” Smith said. “In that last at-bat, I was more patient, more calm, and like you said I went back to what got me here. I tried to take what he gave me and not do too much.”

From the same article. It is good to see him make that adjustment in game. I wonder if that is why he looked off the beginning of the series.

I generally dislike free swingers. But I think Amed will self-correct to some extent and, beyond that, he's got an unmistakeable "it factor" for which there is no stat.

While the hard contact surrounding the K's in the last week or so is certainly easier to stomach than the first week he had here, he can't continue to do what he's doing and have any success, and just shrug it off to aggression.

His swinging strike percentage would be tops in the majors by a good margin. The only guys close (and still 3%+ less) would be the power/patience/K combo of Gallo and Sano, and quite frankly, Rosario doesn't have that same ability to survive the whiffs with "other" skills like those guys.

Agreed. I'd prefer more patience, but not if it takes away the players' ability to produce. Either way, I certainly don't see Amed's 33.3% K rate through a whopping 48 PA as a cause for concern. While always a free swinger, striking out really wasn't much of a concern at all in his minor league career. He'll certainly settle down to a more palpable number by this time next year.

I hate to break a small sample size into even smaller sample sizes, but for whatever it's worth, we've already seen him go from striking out 10 times in his first 6 games (recording just 4 hits) to a more reasonable 6 times in his last 8 (while recording 8 hits).

At this rate, he should be the league's best hitter by the 2018 ASB!

Kidding, of course. But the point is that he's going to look bad at the dish sometimes. He's young, aggressive and out to prove he belongs. He will eventually settle in. Kid has all the potential in the world on both sides of the ball and I'm thrilled to see what he becomes in the next couple years.

He's in his adjustment phase. There's nothing in his minor league history to suggest this is anywhere near the hitting profile we should expect.

To add on on the nitpicking of a guy who has been in the major leagues for a few weeks, what is with Rosarios back foot when he swings? Seems that he lifts it straight up in the air?

Did they ever make him try to change that? Seems really weird.

Regarding Rosario remember one of the things "allegedly" keeping him in the minors was his lack of discipline at the plate. We all thought it was bogus, but maybe it was accurate and he just needed more time in the minors to adjust. I'm sure we will see the same in the majors but it's going to take time. Maybe by next year

It's simply a result of transferring all your power from the back leg to the front as your body rotates and you swing. With some players their foot barely leaves the ground at all, with others it's more noticeable. It's a non-issue.

Bingo. I don't mean to imply he will continue to be successful at the current rates. He won't. But we all know that he is never likely to lead the league in walks.
