Ranfy Adon lines a single off the pitcher to leadoff the bottom of the 1st for the GCL Mets.

Mark Vientos knocked him in with a ground out.

Tom Gorzellany threw a 1-2-3 inning and now Jaison Vilera has come on.

Jaison Vilera continues his strong season with 3 SO innings. In 102 IP between the DSL and GCL, he's got an ERA of 1.5, a WHIP < 1, and a BAA of .185.

Game starts at 7 apparently. Not sure why it says they're in warmups.

Good to see Gerson Bautista getting off to a good start in StL. 7 innings pitched, 1 walk and 8 K's. .95 WHIP. Nogosek seems to be struggling but Callahan I guess has been good in Vegas so far.

Nogosek in terms of "stuff" sounds pretty meh. Good k-rate though.

Elite vertical FB movement. Spin is elite in the non Ryder Ryan class of spin.

Soxprospects.com had him pegged as a 6th-7th inning arm upside. Hardballscoop had him more 91-94 than the "mid-90's" some others have had

"Unlike the other college closers the Red Sox drafted like Shaun Anderson and Matthew Gorst, Nogosek has true reliever pedigree. His stuff didn’t scream lockdown closer by any means, but it did show the ability to be successful if placed in the right role. Despite the ceiling being rather unexciting, it was the floor that was appealing. Any arm that could possibly be pushed through the minors aggressively and impact the major league club, is beneficial with how important bullpens have become in the sport.
"

I'm not hating on him, just doesn't sound like his stuff is off the charts impressive

FG pretty similar

"Nogosek was a 2016 sixth rounder out of Oregon. He began his first full pro season as Low-A Greenville’s closer and dominated there until late June, when he was promoted to High-A Salem. Nogosek’s pitching regimen started to include multi-inning outings shortly before the trade. He struck out 18 hitters in 17.2 innings with Salem, walking 10. The righty sits 90-95 mph and will flash a plus slider. He pitches aggressively and projects to have average command."

What sort of correlation is there to elite spin rates and elite success?

We know that Seth Lugo's spin rate is elite of the elite. We also know that Seth Lugo is thoroughly mediocre despite this.
