Wow, Grandy ran full speed into the fence trying to preserve the no-hitter (and game) for Rich Hill.

For those who weren't following, Rich Hill carried a no-hitter into the 10th inning! but Josh Harrison homered to leadoff the frame. Dodgers lost, 1-0.

And say what you want about Chase Utley, but that catch he made in the 8th inning tells you all you need to know about him.

Any word if Grandy is OK?

As a side note, I don't get that. He pitched 9 no hit innings but it's not a no hitter cause it went extra innings? I don't think that's a good rule.

Too bad Utley didn't run into the wall, or, run into a giant cactus at full speed, or run into a giant pile of poop or . . . I think you get the point. Hate the man.

and for anyone interested . . .

I get the game called early so it doesn't count. I don't agree with the extra innings rule.

and, I've always loved a good underdog story. Go Mets (2018).

If I'm Rich Hill I'm super PO'd right now. No excuse for the Dodgers to leave one of their best bats (Justin Turner) on the bench for the whole game during a 0-0 potential no hitter.

He's 8-72 as a Dodger. 111/256/278.

But he's a great guy!

I kid. But I post this not to suggest that he's a horrible player bc we know that isn't the case... but this is the risk you take when picking someone up in the middle of the season... that it takes them a while to get comfortable. Of course, they have such a big lead, he could still have an impact in the playoffs for them.

It depends on the risk involved in acquiring the player

there was little risk involved for the Dodgers

If Grandy hits a big homerun in the playoffs it will most likely be more valuable than Jacob Rhame's entire career

Very possible.

And likewise, there was little risk for the Mets in making this swap, given that Grandy's contract was expiring and Rhame is potentially a useful player under control going forward. Not much to lose in this deal.
