But based on the returns we've seen would it have been anything other than an A-ball reliever?

Just spitballing here, but maybe this shows where we miss Depo?

Oh, I would have 100% taken another reliever here if it's the caliber of the first 5 they got. Like the guy probably regarded as the "worst" of the five (Ryder Ryan) is a 22 year old who touches 98 and has 97th percentile fastball spin one year after being converted from an infielder.

It's not like they're trading for random 88-90 23 year old relievers. The guys they are getting are pretty good relief prospects but, well, when you trade for strict relief guys there's risk and limited ceilings.

This season can't end soon enough

You seriously have no interest in seeing what these kids can do playing every day for the last 45 games? Isn't that a silver lining in an otherwise lost season? At least they have kids that are arguably ML ready.

What kids? It's Rosario and nobody else of consequence. Plawecki is a minor leaguer. Nimmo is a backup outfielder. Dominic Loney is simply not a 1st baseman in 2017 in Major League Baseball. Flores is 26 and has been here forever seemingly, not a kid. But he has made slow steady progress and the plate and is now a + hitter. Matt Reynolds is terrible.

All the productive veterans we traded away, we don't have the MLB ready kids to come up and replace them

Maybe Mets Baseball is not for you.

I will take the limited ceilings for a couple of guys who can come in and not blow a game every other day. The best pens are comprised of young, blue collar, hard throwers. That being said, it would be nice to re-sign Addison Reed or someone comparable in the winter.

Elite clubs have elite bullpens....I think Sandy has finally realized that.

BTW: Gotta love the potential of Tyler Bashlor, perhaps enough to give him a cup of tea in September, if a roster spot can be made.
