They are going to have decisions to make. If Callahan and/Rhame don't prove MLB ready that would mean

Bautista, Callahan, Rhame, Bashlor, Uceta all on the 40 man and yet not ready to help the big club. That's a whole lot of room on the 40 man for relievers not helping the big club. Throw in Molina, Nido and maybe Flexen (in terms of being ready, not suggesting he's being removed) and then presumably Guillorme that's a pretty high % of "not helping the big club" on the 40 man roster. That doesn't even include McGowan. I'm assuming Pill/Becerra will be removed.

Moving Conlon to the BP is really perplexing, I wonder what went into that decision? They have so little SP depth is odd.

Given the lack of SP depth (esp from the south side) it's a little odd, but he does look like a RP in the long run to me. Still seems odd considering he was far short of his innings projection I would think.

I mean what was the point of doing it now? Absolutely ZERO SP depth in the upper minors. Can't recall too many times where they made a similar move in-season with a guy not stinking it up.

Back to the game last night as this thread really got off the rails I see, but would it have killed Terry to give Ramos a 2nd inning considering it was 4 days in between appearances? Goeddel is just plain awful

The way we've been using the bullpen lately, seems we ARE tanking on purpose. We have lost at least 4 games in the last two weeks due to the bullpen and using the worst guys back there in big spots.

I understand that they are auditioning players for next year and different spots in the pen, but it's not like the Mets don't already know what they have in Goeddel and Robles. What more can they learn about these two?

I'm sorry but anyone who keeps Marcos Molina and Chasen Bradford on a 40 man over Ty Bashlor is in the wrong industry.

I see your point although I think at least one of Rhame/Callahan will be in the opening day bullpen.

So now we're wondering why the Mets might be conservative with a young pitcher's arm?

This is really bad MMQB'ing. Ramos is basically the only RHRP in that bullpen with a guaranteed 2018 job (Sewald probably close). If TC used him for multi-inning outings in these meaningless games, everyone would be screaming about the abuse.

Not adding Bashlor would be beyond nuts at this point. Monster K rate with the velocity to back it up. Hard to see the argument for not protecting him when you ARE protecting Callahan, Bautista etc. It's not like he's a smoke and mirrors type.
