Andres Gimenez flashing ELITE speed. Off Astro's GIF, which has been accurate with Rosario in the past, I have him at about 3.85 home to first. Only Billy Hamilton has been clocked faster in the majors this season.

That can't be right.
Certainly doesn't line up with scouting reports so I find it hard to believe as well.
"The tools; while I would not grade him an 80 on any individual aspect of his game, (at least without seeing him in person first) the sum of parts has the look and feel of an above average regular/borderline All-Star at a premium position. With a swing geared for line drives and enough bat speed to drive the ball, he appears more geared for doubles than homers. Though there is more in the frame to suggest some power growth could be expected in the future.
The foot speed and athleticism is good enough to keep him in the middle infield and slot him in the upper portion of the lineup, though one should not expect prototypical burner speed. The glove and arm are said to be good enough to stick at shortstop; and while in the Mets world that is a fairly low bar, it is worth noting outside the organization that is the consensus thus far."
FG has him with 55 speed

Scouting reports at 17 have to be taken with a grain of salt. Before you go ballistic, I'm not saying that AG has legit 80 speed. I find that hard to believe as I understood his skillset to be. I saw him as something like Didi minus the power surge. If he can add 20 SBs on top of that, awesome.

Well I'm not calling him slow but I find it hard to believe he went from an average-ish runner to speed on par with Billy Hamilton without a SINGLE mention of it. He's playing in Columbia. People like Jeff P have seen him. 27/43 career stealing bases over basically a full season of pro ball. From what I've seen on video he looks like a 15-20 steal kind of guy speed wise. You just don't see a 17 year old going from 50/55 speed to 80 speed, and you certainly don't see it going without mention.

Just to be clear, Billy Hamilton's best time is still a tenth of a second faster than what Gimenez is clocked at on that GIF. Second best home to first time this season belongs to Kevin Kiermaier, which is in the range of what AG had last night.

I don't know, just seems like there is something wonky going on when I've yet to read anything suggesting his speed is anything more than slightly above average vs. a "wow he's fast". You would think that would be a major piece people would talk about if he had ++ speed. Law called his speed "above average" but didn't say anything to suggest he's some elite level burner. I asked Jeff P
". It's a swinging bunt/jailbreak so not a representative H2F. He was a plus runner for me though."
