Silver lining for a dark cloud of a season is that arb eligible guys like Familia, Harvey, and Wheeler will be getting smaller than expected raises.

Quinn Brodey hit a 2-run homer in his first Cola AB.

Sluggin' David Thompson has an opposite field homer. Tomas Nido hit a 2-run homer earlier.

Brodey hasn't been all that great but they are supposedly high on him.

Pete Alonso also 3-4 with a 2B so far. Hitting .400 since promotion (SSS, of course).

Thompson minus April:

About .304/.361/.476/.837 in 365 AB (107 games) with 26 2B, 1 3B, 15 HR, 56 RBI and 34 BB to 72 K.

Yeah yeah, taking out any players' worst month is a big boost to their season numbers, but that's a stretch of over a 100 games where he apparently manned a fine third base and hit like a legit prospect.

Might be worth noting that his HR/FB rate has improved by a fair amount each season. With the hitter-friendly Vegas in his sights for 2018 and the Mets unlikely to sign a Moustakas while already paying another third baseman (Wright) $20M with no expectation to see the field, Thompson is in a prime position to make a name for himself with a solid start next season, especially because unlike Smith or Rosario he isn't a "big name" guy that they will likely worry about starting his arb/free agency clock.

Would be remiss to not mention McGeorge, seems like Sewald 2.0. Man.

Andres Gimenez hit a 3-run homer in the 9th. Quinn Brodey followed with a 2-run single.

It wasn't enough.

Brooklyn gets their first win in (I think) over 2 weeks. They no longer have a worse winning percentage than the 62 mets.

I've always loved a good underdog story. Go Mets (2018). I know an underdog when I see one.

Thompson's finish is certainly encouraging. Nice to see that power coming out. Should be in line to make his Major League debut in less than 12 months.

Thompson is slowly turning himself into a decent prospect especially at the hot corner

Brodey hit .326/.358/.486 in 145 PA with a higher competition level than the SAL last summer. He might be tired at this point but this shouldn't be too much of a challenge for him.

I'll start caring about his stat line when he gets to Bing, whether that's in 2018 or 2019.

I wouldn't go quite as far with Winaker since I have questions about the power/spring. I'll care about that one a little earlier.

He was one of my pre-season predictions to start showing power. It took him a bit, but he is getting more interesting.

What is most encouraging and surprising to me is his fielding at third. He is no longer seemingly a butcher over there. That would definitely help.
